The Fight Against Medical Debt

In America when people fall behind on medical bills, their debt is bundled with that of others and sold for pennies on the dollar. The buyers are usually companies which seek to collect on the outstanding debt using tactics like harassment and lawsuits. Undue Medical Debt takes a different approach, purchasing the debt at the discounted price and then canceling it for the patient. To do this, they partner with organizations like DSA to raise the funds. Our campaign seeks to raise $10,000, which would wipe out about $1,000,000 of outstanding medical debt in our region.

You can help by donating and spreading the word. Every dollar gets us closer to our goal and every ask raises awareness of the issue. If you can’t give to our campaign or already have, use social media and your personal networks to urge others to give. During the coinciding midterm cycle, contact candidates and elected representatives to tell them they must get health insurance costs down.
