Nelbi Chun De Leon was set to graduate from high school at Cincinnati Public Schools this past May. However, after a traffic stop and subsequent arrest for allegedly driving without a valid license, Nelbi has since been in ICE detention at the Kenton County Detention Center for two months. He's ended up missing his graduation ceremony due to his detention. This was an accomplishment he'd worked incredibly hard for, having completed the entire academic coursework of both his junior and senior year of high school in one year. Despite his legal team arguing Nelbi has a valid visa status with a path to permanent residency, he has continued to be held by ICE.
DSA Metro Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky calls on the Greater Cincinnati Community to demand Nelbi's release. We must press elected leaders in Ohio and Kentucky alike to demand his release from ICE custody and intervene to say enough is enough, and we must make sure our voices are heard to see him released. We demand to see Nelbi released before August of this year, so he can participate in a new graduation ceremony and be recognized for the work he put in.
Use the tools laid out on this page to join the fight to make sure Nelbi is able to be safely released and receive the diploma he worked hard to receive. Sign the petition to show your support, and use the tools lower on this page to both email and call your representatives.
